Self-Harming Advice

Hey guys! So since I got quite a bit of positive feedback from my story on depression I decided it would be a good idea to share with you some tips I learned over the years on ways to distract yourself from self harming, and even if this post only helps even just one person, it will be completely worth it.

So over the years I went through depression I learned ways of my own that helped me or ways that my doctor or counselor would tell me to try to help me distract myself from self harming, so let's get right into them!
  • Do any activities or hobbies that you enjoy - this can be difficult as I found with depression I lost my interest for most things I normally enjoyed. But it can be a great distraction if you don't feel this way, read a book, listen to music, watch your favourite shows! It can be absolutely anything to distract yourself.
  • Tell a friend or family member - When I was going through depression I had one certain person that I trusted and who knew about my self harming, and when I felt like I was going to self harm, I would tell her, even if it's a text or a call, skype. Just talk to them about what's bothering you or even just talk about anything! I found this was one of the best distractions for me as I wasn't so alone with the dark thoughts.
  • Put a rubber band around your wrist and pull it, then let it go - This is a great one if you enjoy the pain of self harming, it gives you the short pain almost exactly the same as it would feel self harming, except it doesn't actually harm you and is a safer alternative. I used this a lot and I found it was really effective!
  • Draw lines on your arm or where you prefer in a red marker or pen - This is similar to the above one, but for this one, if you enjoy the blood in self harming, it will give you the similar affect without the actual harming so it's a great way to release any stress you may be feeling without harming yourself in any way.
  • Set a timer to wait 15 minutes - This may sound completely stupid but it works. Set a timer for 15 minutes, and tell yourself to wait 15 minutes before cutting or harming yourself. After the time is up, how do you feel? And has the urge to harm yourself gone?
  • Exercise - Now this is a great one and something I personally do whenever I feel in a bad mood not just in the past to resist self harm. I love working out because it releases endorphin's and boosts your mood instantly, and it's good for you! Release your anger or mood out on a cardio workout or anything you enjoy, running, yoga, pilates, the list is endless!

So I hope that any of these tips help you or anyone and if you have any of your own comment them down below! I'd love to know any of your own tips and maybe they could help other people too:)

Always remember your worthy of your place in this world,

Wednesday Wishlist #1

You may be thinking? This post is on a Sunday, not a Wednesday. I had internet trouble this week since where I live has had a few storms, so let's pretend it's a Wednesday! There's so many cute things yet the need not to splurge! Let's get right into Wishlist #1!

Kimono        -        New Look        -        £24.99
I feel like kimono's are perfect for summer, they're loose weight, but something to easily throw over your outfit that can pull it all together perfectly. This one has tassels at the bottom which just adds that little more detail, and they look such good quality! I actually did get one very similar to this - from New Look. It's almost exactly the same but in a pastel pink!

Watch        -        River Island        -        £30
I've been loving gold watches recently, they make a simple outfit look a lot more thought out and it's a great way to accessorize! I like this one because it also has the diamante effects and it looks a lot more expensive than it really is!

Sunglasses       -        New Look       -        £4.99
Since it's been summery recently, sunglasses are a must! Whether it be a style or to block the sun out! I love these ones from New Look which are actually pretty similar to Cheryl Cole's and were included in her 'Get The Look' post on New Look itself!

Mascara        -        Rimmel        -        £5.99
This mascara is Rimmel's newest one, the 'wonder'full' mascara with argan oil'. Now what interests me most about this product is the included argan oil! I can't wait to see how this works and how it lives up to it's name!

Boots        -        Asos        -         £38
These are your typical yet classic Chelsea style boots, but heeled! The small heel makes it still a perfect shoe to add to a simple and day outfit, I love how these boots are so easy to style with almost every and any outfit yet look great!

Bag        -        River Island       -        £25
I have always been a big fan of River Island bags, they're good quality, and look amazing! This one is pastel...Pastel colours are like a weakness to me, they're great for summer and look so pretty! This bag is also perfect size for those summer days or nights with friends!

So that's my Wednesday(Sunday but let's pretend it's Wednesday) Wishlist!
What was your favourite item from my wishlist? And what's on yours?

Have a great day,

The Reading Habits Tag

Hey guys! Today I decided to do the reading habits tag as I've seen this on a lot of blogs lately and I thought it would be a fun idea to post:) So let's get right into it!

1. Do you have a certain place at home to read?
Not really, I like the back garden if it's sunny where we have a swing or sun loungers to sunbathe too! The sun feels nice on your skin while you read and it's bliss.

2. Bookmark or Random piece of paper?
Bookmark which I may or may not have a DIY post on soon*hint hint*

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or # pages?
If I have to stop reading then I can anywhere, but I prefer to finish a chapter first, I'm weird like that

4. Do you eat or drink while you're reading?
No, sometimes I can snack on fruit while I'm reading, but I could never eat a meal or anything haha! I need my hands to hold the book.

5. Do you watch tv or listen to music while reading?
No, I like to concentrate on the book, if someone in the same room as me is watching tv I can block it out while I read:)

6. One book at a time or several at once?
One, I like to get into the book well!

7. Reading at home or everywhere?
I like to read at home but if I go on holiday I always take a book or two with me:)

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Silently in my head

9. Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?
Sometimes if the book is boring at times I can tend to only skip some of the lines which is bad! But other than that no I don't skip pages

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
I do my best to keep my books like new, and if anyone borrows them they receive a lecture from me to be careful not to break the spine! Haha

Leave a link below if you decide to do this tag! Or if not, where's your favorite place to read?:)
